The weekend of June 16, Attorneys Deanna Hoyt, Michael Strauss and Gary Schlesinger all attended the annual meeting of the Illinois State Bar Association.
- Deanna was at a meeting of the Women and the Law Committee to which she had been appointed by the president of the Illinois Bar Association.
- Michael attended a meeting of the Family Law Section Council beginning his one year term as vice chair, in a year he will become the chair.
- Gary attended three meetings, one of the Assembly, the legislative body of the Association; one of the Committee on the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission; and one of the Civil Practice Section Council. To the first, Gary is an elected member, and the latter two, he was appointed by the president of the Illinois State Bar Association. For the Civil Practice Section Council, Gary is one of two members charged with monitoring legislation in the Illinois legislature of interest to, and that effect the practice of civil law.
This past weekend, Attorney Deanna Hoyt attended a three day seminar, Thursday through Saturday, by the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers for Associates of Members. Attorney Gary Schlesinger is the member and Attorney Michael Strauss attended ten years ago as an associate.
Two months ago, Attorney Deanna Hoyt completed 40 hours of family law mediation training to be certified as a mediator on the Mediation Panel of the Lake County Court for family law matters.
Michael Strauss was published in the Illinois State Bar Association Family Law newsletter for June, 2018. The article is called, “Equitable Estoppel.”
